Beginning in the early 1980’s, the foundations for our community were being dug and our little slice of paradise was becoming a reality. With the idea of creating a “Hurricane Hole”, Developer Ralph Smith dug several canals and Bonefish Bay.
With an average depth of 9 feet in the canal and 10 feet in the bay and being almost completely encircled by mangroves, the Coco Plum area is an ideal location for sheltering during rough weather. The Bonefish Bay also boasts a three hundred yard long anchorage and excellent holding.
Coco Plum Beach Yacht Club is a 52 slip live aboard community, all individually owned. There is a mixture of owners and renters, where we all add our own little personal touch to this outstanding community.
There is something here for everyone. Fishing is as close as the end of our canal or, we are just one mile from the entrance to our main canal and the Atlantic Ocean with some of the finest fishing to be found anywhere in the Florida Keys.
For those who want to just relax, we have that too. Our marina is as quiet and far away from the hustle and bustle of the mainland as you would ever want to be, and yet still close enough to be able to make the trip in a couple of hours maximum. The town of Marathon has just about everything you would need and is normally very quiet. We are truly a hidden gem right in the middle of the Florida Keys.
For those who love the allure of sailing the ocean, we are just minutes away from being able to unfurl your sails on to the Gulf Stream which is beckoning just beyond our shore. Many of our residents use our marina as home base and venture far and wide with the Gulf of Mexico, Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean within reach.
The Slips in Coco Plum Beach Yacht Club all have electric and water, along with pump-out at each slip.
